Overview
Gear storage and organization for car camping is a vital part of car camping.
Your car is only so large, and when you put a bed in it, that extra space dwindles down to a few square feet.
But with a little planning, practice, and perseverance, you’ll be a pro at optimizing the space you have in your vehicle.
Adjustable Height
All our TrunkMate kits are height adjustable, so you can raise your sleeping platform up higher to fit more gear underneath, or keep it set lower to maximize the headspace you have in bed.
Under-Bed Storage
Are you struggling to find the best place to store your gear? The BlitzBed thoughtfully creates space underneath the bed for organizing your gear.
Bins are the perfect place to organize your food, cutlery, kitchenware, stove, bedding, water, etc. Since you have to open the trunk to access this storage, I think of this space as long term storage.
When the BlitzBed is set up in bed mode, you get even more storage space underneath the bed boards. This space is accessible when laying in bed, so I treat it as short term storage.
This area is perfect for smaller items like clothing, small backpacks, and anything you need to keep nearby while you sleep.
Beside-Bed Storage
If you need even more storage space, we recommend you sleep on a single bed and store your larger items beside you.

Our Favorite Bins
You can find storage bins at most big box stores. We recommend Target, The Home Depot, or The Container Store.
Under-bed bins and restaurant bus bins tend to be about the right dimension. Just be aware of the depth and height dimensions to make sure it will fit!
Below is a list our favorite bins in order of their height. All of these pair well with your BlitzBed!
4″ tall bins
5″ tall bins
6″ tall bins
7″+ tall bins
The taller the bin, the higher you will need to raise the bed in order for them to fit. This will reduce the amount of headroom you have when laying in bed. Keep this in mind when selecting your storage bins.
